Geospatial Data Scientist
Everimpact is on a mission to make it easier for cities and businesses to measure their greenhouse gas emissions, identify opportunities to reduce emissions, and finance needed investments. In short, we use data to fight climate change. Our climate monitoring system combines satellite, ground sensors, and AI data into a software platform to establish cities and businesses' carbon footprint. As a result, clients can identify reduction opportunities and access financing for their climate investments. Everimpact has been selected by Google for it’s Startups’ first Accelerator program on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is working with several partners to deploy large scale and high impact projects with cities and the shipping industry.
About the role
You will be working hand in hand with our CTO who previously founded and led 2 satellite agencies at the United Nations. You will be the first data scientist to join Everimpact, so your impact will be significant and there is scope to craft your ideal role.
Your responsibilities will be to:
Define a roadmap to deliver clean and accurate data to client cities, industries, rural communities
Develop our tools and pipelines for cities using satellite imagery and other geospatial and IoT data
Design, develop and implement quality standards for customer deliverables
Attend technical customer meetings to explain the product
Write technical documentation
You will be working on a regular basis out of our office at Station F in the center of Paris with the option to work remotely the rest of the time. Initially the position is contract-based with a view to transitioning to a permanent role after 6 months.
Most likely, you are passionate about climate change and making a difference for the planet, mission-driven, and team-player.
Ideally, you have:
Minimum 5 years of experience in satellite imagery (MSI, SAR, HS) processing and geospatial models
Geospatial analytics (ERDAS, QGIS, ESRI, Mapbox, shapefiles, geojson, polygon and point analysis, GIS, Geotiff)
Organised, autonomous, flexible and possess a “can-do” attitude to come in an early stage and fast-growing startup
Excellent communication skills
Excellent command of written and oral English
